About the Blog Author
Hello! And Welcome to my Blog. My name is Deborah Schroeder. I am a free-lance public
speaker, retreat leader and Bible study teacher with over forty years of experience connecting
women to the Word of God.
The Word of God encourages older women to pass on truth to younger women. At my age, nearly
all women are younger! I am excited to share with you some of the wonderful truths the Lord has
given me during my lifetime. And I look forward to your responses as these insights ignite a spark
in your thinking as well.
In the meantime, here is a little about my background:
I was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith, and I have never known a day apart from
the love of Jesus. It is that unconditional love that spurs me to inspire women with valuable
truths from God’s Word.
My educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Management Communications from Concordia University-Wisconsin, and a Master of Science degree
in Organizational Leadership and Supervision from Purdue University-Fort Wayne.
My professional career spanned 50 years, the last half of which centered in the field of Human Resources. In 2011, I launched my own HR consulting company called
FERN—Grow, Develop, Maximize. I have also served my community of Allen County, Indiana for 14 years as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), a voice in court
for children of abuse and neglect.
My husband and I reared 4 children. On November 25, 2011, tragedy hit. Our youngest child, Erika, age 23, was murdered in Fort Wayne, Indiana by a known stalker.
It was a homicide/suicide. Parents never expect to outlive their children. While the loss of Erika brought tremendous pain, I have the comfort in knowing the Lord gave
Erika faith to trust in Him for her salvation. Erika entered her eternal Home and she now awaits the glorious day of Resurrection.
In 2025, my first book was published titled Girl Time—Conversations on Godly Character (NPH.net).
My favorite verse from Scripture was given on the day of my Confirmation (March 22, 1964), 2 Corinthians 5:15: He died for all, that those who live might no longer
live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised. (ESV)
Enjoy your journey browsing through my articles, and feel free to comment in response if you so choose.

Meet Deborah Schroeder
I’m a freelance public speaker, retreat leader, and Bible study teacher with over 40 years of experience connecting women to the Word of God. I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Management Communications from Concordia University-Wisconsin, and a Master of Science degree in Organizational Leadership and Supervision from Purdue University-Fort Wayne.
Professionally, I served as a Court-Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for 14 years in my community in Allen County, IN. A CASA is a voice in court for children of abuse and neglect. After that, I decided to become a human resources practitioner, a career that spanned 25 years until I established my own HR consulting company called FERN—Grow, Develop, Maximize in 2011.
Family and Tragedy
My husband and I were blessed with four children. On November 25, 2011, our youngest child, Erika, age 23, was murdered in Fort Wayne, IN, by a known stalker. It was a case of homicide/suicide.
Parents are never expected to outlive their children, and the loss of Erika brought tremendous pain to my family and me. Still, I find comfort in knowing that the Lord gave Erika faith to trust in Him for her salvation. I believe my daughter has entered the eternal Home and awaits the glorious day of resurrection.
An Enduring Faith
Baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith, I have never known a day apart from Jesus’s love. This unconditional love spurs me to inspire women with valuable truths from God’s Word.
My favorite verse from the Bible was the one given to me on my Confirmation Day (March 22, 1964): “He died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised.” (2 Corinthians 5:15 ESV)
This year, I was able to publish my first book, Girl Time—Conversations on Godly Character, under Northwestern Publishing House (NPH.net).
